All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who was out of the Indian cricket team for a long time, has managed to make headlines in the mega auction of IPL 2025 held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Let us tell you that Iyer has been signed by three-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by paying a huge amount of Rs 23.75 crore.

Before this auction, no one expected that KKR would sign Venkatesh for such a huge amount. Venkatesh has become the third most expensive Indian player to be sold in the IPL auction. So after the rain of auction money, Venkatesh has given a big statement regarding his return to Team India. Venkatesh says that if Varun can make a comeback, then I can definitely do it too.

Let us tell you that after making the record in the IPL auction, in an interview with Sportskeeda, Venkatesh said – Once I can look in the mirror and say, I am ready to represent India, then only I will think about it. But I think I’m ready, but honestly, I have to face the truth about it.

Venkatesh further said- But somewhere, I need to try harder. I need to take more wickets, I need to make a bigger impact. But I’m getting there, I’m really close to coming back. It is really nice to see good competition in the team. If Varun (Chakraborty) can make a comeback, then I can definitely make a comeback. This gives me a lot of hope.

A look at Venkatesh Iyer’s IPL career

Talking about the IPL career of the 29-year-old all-rounder, who played his last match for Team India in the year 2022, he has played a total of 50 matches till the time of writing the news. During this period, he has scored a total of 1326 runs at an average of 31.57 and strike rate of 137.13. Apart from this, he has taken only three wickets in bowling.
