Pant has become the most expensive player sold in the IPL auction.
IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The mega auction for the 18th season of IPL has started from 24th November in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia. Today the first day’s auction ended. All the 10 teams participating in the auction were seen spending money like water to buy players included in 12 categories.
So in this auction, Indian cricket team’s star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has created history. He has become the most expensive player to be sold in the history of the tournament. Pant has been signed by Lucknow Super Giants in a record bid of Rs 27 crore. Delhi Capitals had a chance to use the Right to Match card, but they let Pant go.
Apart from this, Punjab Kings added experienced Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer by paying a huge amount of Rs 26.75 crore. He became the most expensive player bought for Punjab in the IPL auction. Also, former Australian opener David Warner did not find any buyer on the first day of the auction.
Apart from this, Devdutt Padikkal, who was a part of the Indian team in the BGT series, also remained unsold on the first day of the auction. Meanwhile, defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders added all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer by paying a huge amount of Rs 23.75 crore, which was the subject of much discussion on the first day of the auction.
Apart from this, Punjab added Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal by paying Rs 18 crore each. Also, England captain Jos Buttler was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 15.75 crore. Apart from this, wicketkeeper KL Rahul was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore, which is considered to be the biggest steel deal before the auction. Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 11.25 crore.
Meanwhile, big names like England’s explosive wicketkeeper batsman Jonny Bairstow, India’s Under-19 winning captain Yash Dhull, experienced spinner Piyush Chawla also did not find any buyers on the first day of the auction.
