Know what is the silent tie-breaker bid
There is also a rule of a silent tie breaker in the IPL auction. However, this rule is rarely used. If we tell you about the rule, the rule of silent tie breaker has been in practice in IPL since 2010. This rule comes in handy when a franchise makes the final bid for a player, but during this time its purse runs out.
During this time, if its bid matches with the bid of another franchise, then both the franchisees are asked to give written bids. In this they have to write about the amount to be paid above the last bid. After this, the team which has more money in this silent bid gets the player.
The franchise has to pay the BCCI the money for the tie break auction, but this money is not deducted from the purse value of the franchise. There is no restriction on the amount in tie break bidding. If the amount of both franchises remains equal even in the tie break bid, then this process is repeated until the amount of one franchise is more than the other.
