IPL 2025 Auction, Shreyas Iyer: Under the leadership of Indian player Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders became the champion by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last IPL season. Shreyas is the first captain in IPL history to have taken two different franchises to the finals, under his captaincy Delhi Capitals also reached the finals in 2020.

Before the IPL 2025 mega auction, Kolkata Knight Riders released their captain, which surprised everyone. The franchise bought him for Rs 12.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction and appointed him the captain. Now Shreyas Iyer will be seen playing for Punjab Kings in the upcoming season of IPL. A lot of money was showered on the players of the first two sets of auction. There was no one among the 12 marquee players who remained unsold. The franchises spent the entire Rs 180.50 crore on marquee players. Of these, 7 marquee players were Indians, who together earned Rs 126.3 crore. Finally, Punjab Kings included Shreyas in their team by making a huge bid of Rs 26.75 crores. Shreyas has become the second most expensive player in IPL history. He took Delhi Capitals to the finals in 2020 and then in 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders became champions under his leadership. IPL 2025 Auction: Arshdeep Singh and Chahal sold for Rs 18 crore each Indian young bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal will be seen playing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. Punjab has included Arshdeep back in the team using the RTM card. At the same time, the franchise bought Chahal for Rs 18 crore.
