PCB played a big game! Will India have to go to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025?
The PCB has rejected the idea of a hybrid model for India matches similar to the arrangement made for Asia Cup 2023. PCB (Image Credit- Twitter) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed to start the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 from February 19 and host it entirely in Pakistan. At the same time, the PCB has rejected the idea of a hybrid model for matches in India similar to the arrangement made for Asia Cup 2023. According to the PCB’s proposed schedule, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will run from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with all matches taking place in three major Pakistani cities: Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. PCB sources have revealed that International Cricket Council (ICC) officials, who recently visited Pakistan to assess the preparations for the tournament, have expressed satisfaction over the arrangements. After that, the PCB has taken a strong stand against the idea of a hybrid model especially for the India matches and insisted that all the games should be played on Pakistani soil. This stance is likely to draw a response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It is worth noting that the BCCI had suggested a hybrid model where India’s matches would be played at neutral venues outside Pakistan, similar to the arrangement made during Asia. PCB has made a special plan for Team India However, Pakistan is adamant on its stand and wants all the matches including the one with India to be played within its borders which may not be possible but Pak is also not ready to bow down. A PCB source said, “We have not opted for the hybrid model. However, we have proposed that India’s matches can be played only in Lahore. This way the team will not need to move around cities within Pakistan and its security can be well maintained in Lahore.” The source further added, “The proximity of Lahore to Wagah Border will also make it more suitable for Indian fans.” Now it will be interesting to see whether India will go to Pakistan for the tournament or it will cancel its tour.
T20 World Cup: This match winner sitting on the bench will prove to be a trump card for India in Super-8
Team India has confirmed its place in Super-8 Indian team (Pic Source-X) Team India has confirmed its place in the Super-8 by defeating USA in the match played on June 12 in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, the best spinner Kuldeep Yadav did not get a chance to play in a single match. Everyone knows what wrist spinners can do with their balls. Meanwhile, former Indian spinner Piyush Chawla believes that wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav will be India’s favorite specialist spinner when Team India plays in the Super-8 of the T20 World Cup. He said that the conditions in New York were not favorable for spin bowling, but now Indian spinners will show their prowess in this tournament. There wasn’t that much need for spinners in New York, but… “The pitch in New York was very dangerous and the way India performed on that pitch and won three out of three matches, we have a very good chance of progressing,” the former Indian cricketer told media on the sidelines of the IISM convocation in Mumbai on Thursday. He further said, spinners were not needed that much in New York, but once you reach the second stage for the Super-8, spinners have a big role to play in the West Indies. Our spinners will come into play now. He chose Kuldeep Yadav as his first choice instead of Yuzvendra Chahal. Chawla said, honestly, only one spinner will play and I think Kuldeep will be the first priority because of what he has done in the last one and a half years. You have Axar and Jadeja who can give you depth in batting, so I think Kuldeep will play. Let us tell you that India has to play one more match in the group stage against Canada, which will be played on June 15.

Virat Kohli’s poor start in T20 World Cup 2024, is this a matter of concern for India? Know what the experts say
Virat Kohli has scored just 5 runs in three matches so far Virat Kohli (Photo Source: X/Twitter) The Indian management’s decision to open the innings with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup 2024 has not proved right so far. The team management has kept specialist opener Yashasvi Jaiswal out of the playing XI to make Virat-Rohit open. However, Kohli has not been able to perform well while opening so far. He has scored just 5 runs in three matches. He was dismissed after scoring 1 run against Ireland. While he returned to the pavilion without scoring 4 runs against Pakistan and against America. Earlier, Kohli had scored a flurry of runs in IPL 2024. He was the highest run-scorer (741) in the tournament. But his bat has been silent in the T20 World Cup. He got out on a duck for the first time in an ICC event against America off Saurabh Netravalkar’s bowling. It would be fair to say that Kohli did not give much time to adjust to the difficult pitch of New York and hence he got out early on three occasions. There is nothing to worry about- Sunil Gavaskar Now many legends and cricket experts have come forward in support of Virat Kohli. Supporting Kohli, Australian batsman Steve Smith said on Star Sports, “It has been tough for batsmen, especially those batting in the upper order, against the new ball. I will not say much about it. We know that Virat is a superstar. I am sure he will score runs in the upcoming matches.” On the other hand, Sunil Gavaskar supported Kohli and said, well, when you are playing for the country, there is no bigger motivation than this. He has performed well for India in the last few years. He has won many matches for India. This is just the beginning, there is still a long way to go in the tournament. There is Super-8, then the semi-finals and hopefully the finals as well. He said that he knows that he just has to show a little patience and have a little faith in himself. There is nothing to worry about. He will recover sooner or later. He has to show faith in himself and he has enough of it.
“I think he will do well in red-ball cricket just like Bumrah” Gavaskar gave this statement about which bowler
Sunil Gavaskar (Image Credit- Twitter X) India’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh won the Player of the Match award against USA in the T20 World Cup 2024. Playing the third match of the tournament, Arshdeep led the pace attack along with Bumrah. Arshdeep took 4 wickets for 9 runs against Ireland on Wednesday, June 12. After seeing his performance, former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar has praised Arshdeep. Sunil Gavaskar has made a special demand to the BCCI regarding Arshdeep Singh, who was the hero of India’s victory against America. He has talked about giving the fast bowler a chance in red ball cricket. Speaking on Star Sports after USA vs India, Gavaskar said that Arshdeep’s ability to swing the ball both ways was like Jasprit Bumrah. Sunil Gavaskar praised Arshdeep Singh Speaking on Star Sports after the match against USA on Wednesday, Sunil Gavaskar said, “Arshdeep pitches the ball at the right length, targets the stumps for right-handers and away from left-handers. He has the ability to bowl the right length for both right-handed and left-handed batsmen. Against the USA, Arshdeep was not focusing on bowling yorkers but on maintaining the length of that ball. His bowling temperament is fantastic.” During this, Gavaskar compared the fast bowler to Jasprit Bumrah. He said that like Bumrah, Arshdeep can also perform lethally in red ball cricket. The former batsman said, “I think he has the same ability as Bumrah, he will perform well in red-ball cricket. If he can swing the white ball effectively, he can be equally effective with the red ball. The selectors should seriously consider him as an option for the Test team.”
