(Photo Source: Twitter) According to the new report of India Cares Foundation, IPL’s fan favorite team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has completed the restoration work of two major lakes in Bengaluru, due to which the water holding capacity of these lakes has increased. Along with this, as part of RCB Go Green initiative, biodiversity facilities have been added around the third lake and better efforts have been made to maintain the lake. RCB had made a commitment under ESG in October 2023 to focus on developing Ittgalpura Lake and Sadenahalli Lake and launched the Lake Reclamation Work Project for the same. These lakes were chosen to be the most water-stressed areas, with borewell depths ranging from 1000 to 1500 feet. Kaveri river water does not reach these areas and these areas are completely dependent on ground water and surface water. According to reports, more than 1.20 lakh tonnes of silt and sand has been removed from Ittagalpura Lake and Sadenahalli Lake, which has been used to build dams and pathways across the lakes and 52 farmers have used this silt as topsoil for their fields. To use as is. A total of 9 acres of land was recovered and pond facility has been provided in it. These facilities will benefit the birds and animals living in the lakes. The water holding capacity of the lakes has also increased by 17 acres. These two lakes will solve the water problem to a great extent. The farmers here depended on borewell water to plow their fields. But now because of the water of the lake, they will be able to do farming comfortably and will be able to use it as drinking water. Along with this, farmers engaged in fishing and rearing will also get benefit from it. These changes took place in the third lake The purpose of Kannur Lake here is that with its help the civic amenities will be improved. Ethno-Medicinal Plants Parks, Bamboo Parks, and Butterfly Parks are also being built on all three lakes, as the initiative aims to improve and maintain the biodiversity of the lakes. Along with this, it will also become a place for children to get education. With this, RCB is now the world’s first carbon-neutral cricket team and the leading cricket franchise in the world to take significant steps towards a greener planet.
