At present he is doing well in red ball cricket and in the coming time he may get a chance again in Team India. However, he is currently away from the team in white ball cricket. It is noteworthy that Padikkal made his Test debut against England in Dharamsala in March this year. He was successful in scoring 65 runs in that test match. He got a chance to bat in only one innings. Earlier in 2021, he made his debut in T20 International cricket on the tour of Sri Lanka and scored 38 runs in two innings.
