Another cricketer died after being hit on the head by a ball, silence spread in the sports world


The name of the cricketer who suffered a head injury was Jayesh Salva and his age was 52 years.

On January 8, a cricketer was hit on the head by a ball at Matunga Major Dhadkar Maidan. There was a match going on between two other teams on the same ground and the ball of the same match hit the cricketer on his head. Kutchi Community Veteran Cricket Competition is being played on this ground.

The name of the cricketer who suffered a head injury was Jayesh Salva and his age was 52 years. Salva was fielding where the second match was being played. The batsman of the second match played the full shot very fast. Salva did not see the ball at all and it hit him straight on his head. He was immediately taken to Zion Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to Times of India, the eyewitness said, ‘Salva had fallen down after which he was immediately taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.’

Both these matches were part of the Kutchi Visa Oswal Vikas Legend Cup, a T20 tournament for players aged 50 years and above. Rohit Gangar, who was a part of this tournament, told about this incident.

This is how this accident happened

According to Hindustan Times, Rohit Gangar said, ‘We had two matches on Monday afternoon, one at Dadar Union and the other on the pitch of Dadar Parsi Colony. Savala was playing for Gala Rocks against Master Blasters and was stationed there when the DPC match batsman hit the shot. The ball hit him on the back of his head, exactly where Australia’s Phil Hughes was hit and died.

Meanwhile, the police announced that they have registered an accidental death report and have ordered an autopsy to ensure that the death was not intentional. However, there was no such evidence in the report.
