Opener KL Rahul was heading towards a good innings but lost the wicket for 26 runs in a controversial manner by the third umpire in the 23rd over. Mitchell Starc bowled a length ball in the second ball of the over and Rahul tried to defend the ball.
The onfield umpire declared it not out and then Pat Cummins took the review. Replays revealed that Hawkeye acted as soon as the ball came near the bat and the third umpire declared Rahul out. But at the time the spike was seen, the bat had also hit the pad, due to which the umpire’s decision is being criticized.
Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy played valuable innings
Rishabh Pant played an inning of 37 runs in 78 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. Whereas, debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy played the highest innings for the team of 41 runs in 59 balls with the help of 6 fours and one six. Both the batsmen became victims of Australian captain Pat Cummins.
