The defending champion Australia women’s team has intensified its T20 World Cup preparations with the upcoming Bangladesh tour. The pitch in Bangladesh will help the spinners and the ball also remains lower than expected. In such a situation, there will be difficulties for the Australian team.

According to FTP, Australia will play three ODIs and as many T20 matches on its Bangladesh tour. Apart from this, the team led by Alyssa Healy will also play series in all three formats in South Africa.

Regarding the tour, national selector Shawn Flagler said that our aim is to understand the wickets of Bangladesh, where the tournament will be held. He said that some matches will be played on the grounds where World Cup matches are to be held. The team will benefit from this.

Sophie Molyneux ready to make a comeback

All-rounder Sophie Molineux is set to make a comeback after being sidelined through injury in 2023. She will captain the Governor General’s XI against South Africa. This will help her and she can join Australian schemes.

Speaking about it, Pfleger said that cricketers are highly regarded in the Australian setup and it is a privilege to have so many spinners in the team. He said he has been given a high status in the Australian setup for a long time. It is quite clear that the left-arm orthodox spinner is playing international cricket very well.

“We have been blessed with the amount of spin options we have,” Pfleger added. Our last seven World Cup campaigns have featured a left-arm spinner in either Jess Jonassen or Soph. So I’m sure we’ll keep it going. There is going to be a tough fight in the upcoming few series. But it’s really fortunate that we have those options available to us.
