Pakistan cricket team could not make it to the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 hosted by India last year. After Pakistan failed to reach the playoffs of the tournament, captain Babar Azam resigned from his post.

After Babar resigned from the captaincy, the Pakistan Cricket Board handed over the captaincy of Test format to Shan Masood and captaincy of T20 format to Shaheen Afridi. However, the Pakistan cricket team could not perform anything special under the captaincy of the pair of Masood and Afridi. So now reports are coming that once again Pakistan cricket management is looking towards Babar Azam to take charge of the team.

But former captain and veteran batsman Babar Azam has put some important conditions before the PCB before taking over the captaincy of the Pakistan cricket team. According to these conditions, Babar wants the head coach of the team to be changed.

He also wants to captain all three formats simultaneously, but the selection committee wants Shaheen Afridi to captain the shortest format of the game. It is noteworthy that under the captaincy of Shaheen, Pakistan lost 4-1 to New Zealand in the T20 series.

PCB source gave important information

Let us tell you that a senior source of Pakistan Cricket Board was quoted as saying by The Hindu – Some members of the selection committee feel that Shaheen Afridi should be allowed to remain the captain for the home T20 series against New Zealand in April and he should prove his ability. Be given a chance to do it.

The source further said- He (Babar Azam) has made his opinion clear to the PCB chief and has now asked him to take the final decision. Naqvi has asked the selection committee to convince Babar to accept the captaincy of white ball cricket now and the board will decide on the captaincy of red ball cricket after the T20 World Cup.

Big changes are going to happen in Test and ODI formats, ICC may take decision soon

ICC WTC Logo (Photo Source: To promote the Test and ODI formats, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering making some changes. Under this change, there will be a minimum of three Tests in each World Test Championship (WTC) series and in ODIs, two balls will be used for the first 25 overs and then the remaining 25 overs will be bowled with a single ball. The ICC board meeting was held in Dubai, in which women’s cricket was also discussed. If TOI report is to be believed, ICC’s Cricket Committee has received many suggestions in the board meeting. For this reason, the Cricket Committee has recommended that in order to promote Test cricket, as many Day-Night Tests i.e. Pink Ball Test matches should be organized in the next WTC cycle and the Test series should also be of at least 3 matches under the WTC. . ICC is considering conducting a three-match test series An ICC source said, “Some countries like South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka play only two-Test series on most occasions. Only India, England and Australia play long Test series. This does not help in promoting Test cricket and makes the distribution of points very unfair. The recommendations are aimed at eradicating such disparities.” Day-Night Test is currently organized only in Cricket Australia, but BCCI has not played a single Test match with pink ball on its soil for two years. Team India will play the Pink Ball Test in Australia in the coming December. The source said, “The ICC committee believes that more people come to the stadium because of the Test matches played with the pink ball. Recently the viewership in Pakistan has been very low. More tickets than usual were sold in the 3 pink ball test matches played in India. Test playing countries should be encouraged to play more pink ball Test matches.”
