After retirement, he is playing in Legends League Cricket, a league started for retired players. During this time, he has given an exclusive interview to LLC 2024’s media partner Crictracker in which he has answered all the questions related to Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and Indian cricket and expressed his opinion. let’s look at-
Reporter: You have played 6 ODIs and 2 T20s, a total of 8 international matches. For many players, playing an international match is also a big deal. So how was your entire experience and what did you learn from there?
Barinder Saran , The whole experience with cricket is still going on. It has been a long journey of 15 years. The experience when you follow the goal and achieve it is very special. I am thankful to God, my brother and my guru for giving me this opportunity.
Reporter: You played with four different franchises in the IPL. Which team did you enjoy the most and what was the difference?
Barinder Saran: Every team has its own fun. Punjab has its own culture, Mumbai has its own. The management of Mumbai team is different. Every team has its own different styles and players. I really enjoyed playing everywhere. And obviously when you win the cup, that year is the most special. So I would like to put SRH on the top because they won the trophy in 2016 and I was a part of that and then Mumbai.
Reporter: You talked about Mumbai, Rohit Sharma Recently won the T20 World Cup and also won 5 IPL trophies with Mumbai. How do you view his captaincy and what did you learn from him?
Barinder Saran: He is an excellent captain. During our career we have played with many captains. In different matches, like Irani Trophy or Duleep Trophy, there are different captains everywhere. The specialty of Rohit Bhai is that he gives complete freedom to the bowler. If you are bowling in the right place and you want this fielding, then Rohit will give you that fielding. But if you do wrong, he will say now I will tell you the plan and then you have to bowl accordingly.
Reporter: Will India again get an excellent left-arm bowler like Zaheer Khan?
Barinder Saran: There is nothing wrong happening. The bowlers are ready. Sometimes you have good players, but you are not able to field them. As of now Arshdeep Singh is in the ODI and T20 team. He will also come to Test cricket soon. Apart from this, there are other boys who play Ranji Trophy and bowl at good pace. My best wishes are with him.
Reporter: Will you be coaching in the future? If you get an offer to coach in IPL, which team would you like to work with? And what would be your advice for young fast bowlers?
Barinder Saran: I haven’t thought about it yet. You know I just recently retired. And after coming here, I have to stay fit and play for the next 4-5 years. Right now I want to enjoy my cricket. After that I will try to explore more possibilities in the field of coaching.
