BBL 2023-24: TV umpire creates ruckus by pressing wrong button during Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers match

Big Bash League 2023-24 played today on January 6 between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers (BBL 2023-24) A very surprising incident happened during the match. Actually, TV umpire Paul Wilson surprised everyone by pressing the wrong button during the Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Sixers BBL 13 match.

The incident occurred during the third over as Sydney Sixers were chasing 157 runs to win. James Vince of Sydney Sixers hit the ball back towards Melbourne Stars bowler Imad Wasim, and the ball hit the bowler’s hand and hit the stumps.

TV umpire made a huge mistake

However, non-striker Josh Phillips was back in the crease in time. The on-field umpire referred the decision to the TV umpire, who accidentally pressed the wrong ‘out’ button. However, the TV umpire did not waste time in changing it to ‘not out’. However, Josh Phillips (9 off 8) was eventually bowled by Scott Boland in the next over.

If we talk about the match, after being put to bat first, Melbourne Stars scored 156/4 runs in 20 overs. Daniel Lawrence and captain Glenn Maxwell scored 36 (34) and 31 (14) respectively. While Marcus Stoinis and Hilton Cartwright remained unbeaten on 34 (30) and 29 (22) respectively. Todd Murphy recorded impressive figures of 2/15 for Sydney Sixers, while Tom Curran and Ben Dwarshuis took one wicket each.

In response, Sydney Sixers won by seven wickets with 11 balls remaining. James Vince performed brilliantly with the bat and scored 79 runs in 57 balls with the help of 12 fours. Daniel Hughes scored 41 off 32 and added 99 runs for the second wicket with James Vince. Scott Boland took two wickets for Melbourne Stars, while Beau Webster took one wicket. With this win, Sydney Sixers have moved up to second place in the BBL 13 points table with four wins from eight matches, while Melbourne Stars have slipped to fourth place.
