BCCI invites all organizations to bid for partnership rights of WPL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited several renowned organizations to bid to acquire the official partnership rights of the Women’s Premier League. Let us tell you, the Women’s Premier League 2024 is going to start very soon. The first edition of the Women’s Premier League was loved by many people. This tournament won the hearts of many people.

The terms and conditions governing the bidding process, including eligibility requirements, bid submission process, rights and obligations, etc., are contained in the ‘Request for Quotation’ (“RFQ”), which is for an amount of Rs 1,00,000 (only one Lakhs Indian Rupees) will be made available on receipt of payment of non-refundable fee. The RFQ will be available for purchase until January 19, 2024.

Interested parties are requested to email details of payment made for purchase of RFQ to [email protected]. Not only this, they have also made it clear that the RFQ documents will be shared only after confirmation of payment of non-refundable RFQ fee. It is very important for the party wishing to submit a bid to purchase the RFQ. Anyone who does not purchase the RFQ will not be able to bid. One thing has also been made clear that mere purchase of RFQ will not entitle a person to bid.

Attention of interested parties is invited to Annexure B which details certain brand categories in which interested parties may not bid. BCCI reserves the right to cancel or modify the bidding process at any stage without assigning any reason.

WPL tournament will start in February: Jay Shah

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah told the reporter after the auction, ‘The Women’s Premier League tournament will start from February and if we talk about the venue, it will be played only in one state. It is very important for us to have figures this time. We have Bengaluru and Uttar Pradesh also. There are many states where we can host this great tournament. We also have Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and after a few years, Vadodara also.

Many great players were bid for in the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction. The final of the previous edition was won by Mumbai Indians. The team performed very well under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur.

The 27-year-old player has scored 893 runs for the team in 46 IPL matches at a strike rate of 143.33. If Russell is out, Rinku Singh will be seen in the role of finisher. Varun Chakraborty has proved to be KKR’s trump card in the last few years. He helped the team reach the final in the 2021 IPL. Whereas in the last two editions, Varun has taken 41 wickets in 29 matches. He was the second leading wicket taker in the 2024 season. In the uncapped category, KKR will retain Harshit Rana and talks are going on with Ramandeep Singh.

SRH will also retain Travis Head and Nitish Reddy to complete five retentions.

All franchisees have to submit their respective retention lists by 31st October. Travis Head and Nitish Reddy Sunrisers Hyderabad had a stellar performance in IPL 2024. The team had scored the biggest total in IPL history of 287 runs against RCB. Not only this, SRH scored 250+ thrice during the tournament. However, even after reaching the finals, she could not win the trophy. They lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the title match. SRH has won the only title in 2016. Before the mega auction, all the franchises would like to choose their best squad. According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, Sunrisers Hyderabad have made their top three retentions in the form of Heinrich Klaasen, captain Pat Cummins and Abhishek Sharma. Along with this, the team will also retain Travis Head and Nitish Reddy. Let us tell you that in IPL 2024, Travis Head was the highest run-scorer for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He scored 567 runs in 15 innings. On the other hand, Nitish Reddy also scored 303 runs in 11 innings in the middle order at a strike rate of 142.92. Maximum 6 players will be retained Talking about retention rules, a franchise can retain a maximum of six players including one uncapped player. The price of each player has been fixed and the top three capped players will get Rs 18 crore, Rs 14 crore and Rs 11 crore respectively. The next three players including the uncapped player will get Rs 18 crore, Rs 14 crore and Rs 4 crore respectively. However, the BCCI has given flexibility in the pricing process by allowing teams to be as flexible as they wish in salary allocation for players. Let us tell you that all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been included in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The selectors are seeing the potential of the next Hardik Pandya in him. And Nitish has also shown his ability. All franchisees have to submit their respective retention lists by 31st October.
