The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between Australia and India is starting from November 22. The first test match between these two teams will be played at Optus Stadium in Perth. Before the upcoming 5-match Test series, former player Harbhajan Singh has raised questions on the squad of Team India.

Harbhajan Singh raised the question as to why brilliant all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been dropped from Team India for the upcoming 5-match Test series against Australia. Let us tell you that in Team India’s squad, there is only Nitish Kumar Reddy as a fast bowling all-rounder and Harbhajan Singh presented his side regarding this.

The former player said on Jatin Sapru’s official YouTube channel, ‘You need an all-rounder like Hardik Pandya. Apart from Nitish Kumar Reddy, you have no other option. Where is Shardul Thakur? Where is Hardik Pandya? We are seeing both these players playing only in shorter formats. You need a player like Hardik. In the last two to three years we were investing on Thakur but where is he now?

If Nitish Kumar gets one or two wickets, it will be a bonus: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh further said, ‘You are absolutely asking Nitish Kumar Reddy to bowl in this tour. He can bowl a few overs here like Sourav Ganguly used to do and if the youngster gets one or two wickets, it will be a bonus.

Let us tell you that Nitish Kumar Reddy has not played a single match in international Test cricket yet. The upcoming test series will be very challenging for him. If Team India wants to secure its place in the final of the World Test Championship, then it is very important for them to win at least four matches in the upcoming series.

There are other things, not just about cricket. There are other things too. As a cricketer I don’t want to be treated like this. I think there’s more. It’s what I wear on my sleeve when I play for a team. It always happens that I give 100 per cent and more than 100 per cent on the field. I never hold anything back, but I won’t do that either. If Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) select me, I will not give them more than 100 percent. Punjab Kings has released the entire team with the aim of making the team a strong team again. He has also appointed former Australia captain and Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting as his new head coach.
