Big news: Australian captain Mitchell Marsh banned for 2 matches, is the case related to fixing?

Australia losing the match against Scotland could play a vital role in qualifying them for the Super 8s and knocking England out of the tournament.

Australia and England are in the same group for the T20 World Cup. While Australia has qualified for the Super 8 match, England still has a sword hanging over its neck. England has to depend on the victory of other teams to qualify for the Super 8. Australian players do not want England to qualify under any circumstances. In such a situation, a former Australian legend has given a statement that if England has to be eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024, then the Australian team should lose its next match.

It is worth noting that both England and Australia consider each other as their enemies. At present, Australia has the upper hand and they would not like to face England ahead of them in the tournament, because the English team can be a big threat to them.

Australia have already sealed their place in the Super 8s after registering three consecutive wins. Scotland currently have five points while England have one point, and they have two matches against Oman and Namibia to play. If Jos Buttler’s side win the above match and Scotland lose to Australia, then net run rate will become important as they will both be level on five points.

But Australia losing the match against Scotland could play a vital role in qualifying them for the Super 8s and knocking England out of the tournament.

In this matter, the statement of the team’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has created controversy.

Josh Hazlewood believes that England can be a threat not only to them but to all the Super 8 teams. In such a situation, he wants Australia to lose their next match. Let’s read what Hazlewood said-

“Any team can come in front of them in the Super 8 matches of this tournament. England is such a team that even the best teams struggle against. That is why they should be removed from the tournament, because here it is about all the teams, not just us.”

Mitchell Marsh will be banned straight away

If Australia plays a match in favour of Scotland, Mitchell Marsh could face a ban if he does so. Marsh will be banned for two of his three Super Eight matches. Marsh could be charged under Article 2.11 of the ICC Code of Conduct if manipulation occurs, such as when a team deliberately loses a pool match at an ICC event in order to affect the position of other teams in that ICC event.

Australia vs India, 1st Test (Image Credit- Twitter X) India is facing Australia in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series from November 22 at the Optus Stadium, Perth. In the match, stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah has won the toss and decided to bat first, which has not proved right for the team. So when Team India, which had scored 150 runs in the first innings, came out to bowl, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has performed amazingly. Bumrah gave India its first success by dismissing Nathan McSweeney (10) in the third over itself. However, after this, there was a golden opportunity to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne, who came to bat at number three, on zero, but due to a mistake by Kohli, Team India could not dismiss him. Let us tell you that on the fifth ball of the same over being bowled by Bumrah, Labuschagne, who was on strike, was facing his first ball, and while defending, the ball went lightly from the bat towards slip and into the hands of Virat Kohli. Although Kohli took this catch, he could not handle the ball till the end and the catch was dropped. It will be worth seeing that Labuschagne gets this lease of life, otherwise the Indian team does not face a burden like the World Cup 2023.
