Cricket Ireland appoints Graeme West as High Performance Director, read the big news


West is currently working as a High Performance Manager with the West Indies cricket team

Graeme West has been appointed as the High Performance Director of the team by Cricket Ireland. It is worth noting that West is currently working as the High Performance Manager in Cricket West Indies (CWI). He is going to join the Ireland cricket team for this role next month.

West has a lot of coaching experience and holds a Level 4 qualification in the coaching level of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Under West’s coaching, Bangladesh won the final of the 2016 Under-19 World Cup against the Indian team led by Rahul Dravid.

Graeme West began his coaching career with Middlesex County Cricket Club, serving as Academy Director. During this time West developed a fruitful relationship with Brian O’Rourke and has helped guide talented young Irish players through the Middlesex system, including Andrew and Stuart Poynter, Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie.

On the other hand, Graeme West seems very excited about this role in Cricket Ireland and has made a big statement. West said in a statement- I would like to thank Cricket West Indies (CWI) for the opportunities provided to me and my family over the past twelve years. Working with world-class players and coaches has helped me in my professional development and increased my love and passion for the game of cricket.

West further said- I am delighted to join Cricket Ireland as the organization continues to grow and strengthen. The strategic plan for 2024-27 is incredibly exciting. I look forward to applying my experience and philosophy with the talent and expertise that has been gathered, as we establish Ireland as a leading cricket nation.

In 1956 itself, Pakistan’s Mahmood and Khan Mohammad took 20 wickets in a Test against Australia, and in 1972, Australia’s B Massey and Dennis Lillee together took a total of 20 wickets for England. Talking about the match, the England team had got the target of 297 runs, in response the entire England team was limited to only 144 runs in the second innings. Sajid Khan received the Player of the Match award for his excellent bowling.
