The 17 editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have seen a lot of matches between the most successful franchises, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Both the franchises have won five titles each under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. As the 2024 season approaches, all eyes are on these two legends.

Dhoni will likely be playing his last IPL season while Mumbai Indians have replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik as the captain of the team. Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel recently made a bold claim, saying that while Dhoni has made mistakes during tense IPL games, Rohit Sharma has been much more successful with his decision-making over the years.

Sometimes wrong decisions or mistakes happen: Parthiv Patel

Parthiv told on Geo Cinema, “Dhoni has made mistakes like giving over to Pawan Negi, but if you watch Rohit, you will never see any mistake. Dhoni advises to keep the process simple but we Rohit Sharma use it properly.”

Regarding Rohit, Parthiv said, “When there is a stressful match, sometimes wrong decisions or mistakes are made. But the hallmark of Rohit Sharma’s captaincy is that in the last 10 years, you don’t remember him making any mistakes.”

Parthiv Patel said, ‘I think the most important thing is that Rohit supports his players. The biggest examples of this are players like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah came into the Mumbai Indians setup in 2014. His performance till 2015 was nothing special.

Not only this, he had to be sent back after half the season. But Rohit Sharma had confidence in his ability, and Bumrah’s performance since 2016 has been excellent. Similarly, Hardik Pandya came in 2015 and became popular after that. The 2016 season was not good for Hardik Pandya, but this franchise team did not leave him and later Hardik Pandya also proved to be a match winner for Mumbai Indians.
