Dinesh Karthik created history, became the first Indian player to be a part of SA20

Former wicketkeeper batsman of the Indian cricket team Dinesh Karthik has created history. Let us tell you that now he has become the first Indian player to participate in South Africa’s premier T20 tournament SA20.

It is worth noting that today on 6th August, Paarl Royals has made public the information about including Karthik in the team. So now he will be seen playing for Paarl Royals in the third season of the tournament.

Also, for your information, let us tell you that after IPL 2024, he retired from all formats of the game. After this, he will be seen working as a batting coach with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the upcoming season of IPL.

But he has signed a contract with the Paarl Royals franchise ahead of the upcoming season of SA20. It will be interesting to see how DK will perform with the bat and behind the wicket in the upcoming season of the tournament?

A look at Dinesh Karthik’s cricket career

Dinesh Karthik, who made his debut for Indian cricket in 2004, has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 60 T20 matches for Team India till 2022 in a cricket career spanning nearly 19 years. During this period, Karthik has scored 1025 Tests, 1752 ODIs and 686 T20 runs. Apart from this, Karthik has scored a total of 4842 runs in 257 IPL matches at an average of 26.32 and a strike rate of 135.36.

On the other hand, along with his cricket career, Karthik also started trying his hand at cricket commentary. He has been seen doing commentary during Australia vs England Ashes 2023 and many Test series of India abroad. So now he will be seen playing for Paarl Royals in the upcoming season of SA20, which is definitely a good step towards making the tournament big.
