India A set a target of 175 runs for India B to win.
India B defeated Shubman Gill-led India A by 76 runs in the first match of Duleep Trophy on Sunday. India A had to score 275 runs on the last day of the match to win but the entire team was all out at 198 runs. KL Rahul played a brilliant innings of 57 runs in 121 balls for India A, but he could not lead his team to victory. India A kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the second innings, due to which India B won the match easily.
In this match, India A needed 275 runs to win. However, 4 big players of the team were out at 76 runs. After this, KL Rahul handled the innings in the middle order. He made a good partnership with players like Shivam Dubey and Tanush Kotian. During this, KL Rahul scored 57 runs with the help of 7 fours in 121 balls. He was the highest run scorer for his team in the second innings.
Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan performed well
Earlier, with the help of the fighting innings of Rishabh Pant (61) and Sarfaraz Khan (46), India B scored 184 runs in the second innings against India A in a thrilling match of Duleep Trophy and gained a lead of 274 runs. The highlight of India B’s innings was Rishabh Pant’s explosive innings of 61 runs in 47 balls. He scored these runs with the help of nine fours and two sixes.
Pant displayed his best game at a time when India B seemed to be losing grip on the match. He fell prey to off-spinner Tanush Kotian, but his innings brought the necessary momentum to the innings after the initial setbacks. India B openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran got out cheaply. At one point, India B seemed to be in trouble after losing three wickets for 22, but Pant and Sarfaraz took the innings forward.
Sarfaraz Khan played a good innings of 46 runs in 36 balls. He was dismissed by wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel while trying to take a single off a fast ball from Avesh Khan. Earlier, India A was all out for 231 runs, trailing by 90 runs in the first innings. Tanush Kotian (32) and Akash Deep (11) struggled for some time. Khalil Ahmed was the last player to be dismissed.
