Shikhar Dhawan decided to retire from domestic and international cricket on August 24. After this decision, former Team India all-rounder and coach Ravi Shastri congratulated Shikhar Dhawan on social media for his brilliant international career.

Let us tell you that Shastri has coached Team India for seven years. During this time he also worked with Dhawan, who was part of the Test team till 2018. Under Shastri’s leadership, India won the Asia Cup in the UAE in 2018, in which Team India defeated Bangladesh in the final.

Dhawan was the first choice opener for Team India in the tournament. He opened in many matches along with Rohit Sharma and made many big records. Ravi Shastri shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) in which he thanked Dhawan for his services to Team India.

Cricket career of Shikhar Dhawan

Left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan made his international debut for the Indian cricket team in 2010, when he got a chance to play in the ODI series against Australia in October. After this, Dhawan never looked back and he represented the Indian team in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20 matches.

Dhawan has scored 2315 runs in 34 Test matches for Team India at an average of 40.61, in which he has scored 7 centuries and 5 half-centuries.

Shikhar Dhawan’s ODI career

In 167 ODIs, Dhawan scored 6793 runs at an average of 44.11, including 17 centuries and 39 half-centuries.

Shikhar Dhawan’s T20 career

In 68 T20 International matches, Dhawan has scored 1759 runs with 11 half-centuries at an average of 27.92.
