If you can get more than 90 percent, it is a great auction – Preity Zinta
Punjab Kings have prepared a strong squad for IPL 2025. Before the mega auction, the franchise had retained only Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. Punjab had gone in with a purse of Rs 110.5 crore and bought players like Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Nehal Vadhera and Marcus Stoinis. If these players remain in form throughout the season, then Punjab will have a big chance of winning the trophy for the first time.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta said that, after the auction, the franchise is happy with the new players as they have got 90 percent of the players they wanted.
Preity Zinta said this after IPL 2025 mega auction-
Speaking on Star Sports after the end of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 25, Preity Zinta said,
We wanted to start from scratch, some were successful and some failed, but most of them were what we wanted. There is no auction where you feel that these are the names we want 100 percent. If you can get more than 90 percent, it’s a great auction. And we got about 90% of what we wanted.
Preity Zinta also told that the franchise is very happy to have Indian players like Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar and Nehal Vadhera in the squad.
Yes, they’re back, and I’m very, very excited. Arshdeep Singh is a Punjabi boy, Harpreet Brar, Nehal Wadhera and many such people. One thing we definitely wanted was a brand new team, a brand new approach. But we also wanted players from our catchment area.
