Former Chief Pitch Curator of MA Chidambaram Stadium K. Parthasarathy passed away

A sad news came out from Tamil Nadu cricket on Sunday. On Sunday, the famous former pitch curator of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) K. Parthasarathy passed away. The association expressed its condolences on his demise and remembered his significant contribution. Parthasarathy MA was the former chief pitch curator of Chidambaram Stadium and served from 1972 to 2013. He worked tirelessly with his team to ensure top class facilities and playing conditions for the MAC Stadium.

Many cricket legends often praised the pitches prepared by Parthasarathy in a career spanning nearly five decades. In fact, he had a deep connection with cricket, as his father KS Kannan was a first class cricketer. Not only this, he was also a famous coach.

According to the New Indian Express, the TNCA had duly acknowledged his contribution in developing Tamil Nadu cricket by honoring him during the final match of the 2020-21 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

Pitch prepared for many memorable international cricket matches

Parthasarathy had prepared pitches for many memorable international cricket matches during his career. He also brought some major improvements and techniques in preparing world class pitches. His ability can be judged from the fact that he used such a type of soil to prepare the pitch, which helps both the batsmen and the bowlers.

He often used red clay and black clay to provide equal opportunities for players to showcase their different skills. Additionally, he also focused on creating a multi-layered pitch to ensure that the pitch provided uniform bounce and pace. He also took into account things that affect pitch preparation such as the role of temperature and humidity. Last but not least, he also showed his expertise in choosing the right type of grass for the surface and their appropriate growth, which resulted in close international matches.
