Akshar Patel took two wickets in the first T-20 match.
Team India’s star all-rounder Akshar Patel said that the newly appointed captain of the T20 team Suryakumar Yadav is the captain of the bowlers. He gives freedom to the bowlers to follow their strategy. Akshar also said that in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, the Indian team will try to try as many combinations as possible in batting.
Akshar Patel praised the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav
Led by Suryakumar, India got off to a great start by winning the first T20 International against Sri Lanka by 43 runs on Saturday. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Axar Patel emphasized the positive impact of SKY’s constant encouragement on the bowlers. Axar said, “I played with Surya bhai (as captain) in the last Australia series.
I know he is the captain of the bowlers. He (sort of) gives you a free hand to decide first. Whenever you hit a boundary, he comes and says it was a good ball. He keeps giving you inputs. As a player, I have a good relationship with him.”
Axar recalled the five-match T20 series against Australia in India last year, which India won 4-1. He observed Yadav’s consistent leadership style. “As a captain, I also played with him in the last five matches (against Australia) and when I was playing today, I didn’t feel much change,” he said.
In the first T20, Suryakumar Yadav also showed his strategic skills in the first three overs. Akshar explained how captain Surya’s strategic suggestions helped the team focus on taking wickets despite the opposition team scoring early runs.
