Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) played very good cricket in their first and subsequent editions of the IPL. The team qualified for the playoffs for the 2022 and 2023 seasons under the captaincy of KL Rahul. However, some changes have been seen in the franchise ahead of the 2024 season. Justin Langer has been made the head coach in place of Andy Flower, while mentor Gautam Gambhir has joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

On joining LSG, Langer said that he is lucky to have a captain like KL Rahul in the team. He praised Rahul a lot. He also said that Rahul has experience and is good against both spin and pace, which makes him a threat to the opposition.

‘I feel lucky to have a captain like KL Rahul’

In a video shared by LSG, Justin Langer said, when I was an Australian coach and we had a series against India, I would never rest until Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were out. Because he (Rahul) is a very dangerous player. He has experience. He can play on both sides of the field. He plays spin and fast bowling well.

Langer further said, I am really grateful and feel fortunate to have a captain like KL Rahul. I am excited about it (teaming up with KL Rahul).

Talking about KL Rahul, the year 2023 has been great for him with the bat. He played 30 international matches this year and scored 1203 runs. He unfortunately got injured during IPL 2023 and had to be ruled out of the tournament. However, he regained fitness and became a part of the 2023 Asia Cup as well as the ODI World Cup.
