Let us tell you that while discussing with the official broadcaster Jio Cinema during the ongoing T20 series against Bangladesh, Surya said – I am really enjoying the new role. Our coaches and my teammates have made it easy for me to lead.

I am feeling very positive about my new responsibility. Also, I don’t want captaincy to change my character, so I want to continue playing the way I have always played. I want to remain the same both on and off the field.

Surya further said- Seeing Rohit Sharma’s batting in the Kanpur Test, it felt as if the T20 series has started. This was exactly Rohit Sharma’s approach to batting. Very few teams can force a result after two days of missing play.

But winning the Kanpur Test was a testament to great captaincy and leadership. I have learned a lot about captaincy from Rohit, and I hope to apply those lessons to my captaincy.
