The Indian team defeated South Africa by 135 runs in the last match of the T20 series in Johannesburg and captured the series 3-1. Sanju Samson who was seen playing the role of opener in this series. He made a great start to the series by scoring a century in the very first match, but was out on duck in the next two matches. Sanju again created history by scoring a century in the fourth T20 match. He has become the first batsman to score three T20 International centuries in a calendar year.

Sanju Samson has had to face a lot of struggles in his career. He made his debut in international cricket against Zimbabwe in 2015, but till now he has not been able to make a permanent place in the team. Sanju became very emotional while talking about his innings in the fourth T20 match against South Africa.

I kept believing in myself- Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson said during a conversation with broadcasters after his century,

It’s a little difficult to tell right now because I’m breathing very fast. I have seen a lot of failures in my life, two centuries and then two zeroes, I kept believing in myself, kept working hard and today it was successful. After some failures, a lot of things were going on in my mind, Abhishek helped me in the beginning and then Tilak also.

Tilak is the future of Indian cricket- Samson

In the fourth T20 match against South Africa, there was a partnership of 210* runs for the second wicket between Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma. Sanju scored 109* runs in 56 balls and Tilak Verma played an unbeaten inning of 120* runs in 47 balls. This is the highest partnership by India for any wicket in T20 International. Also, this is the third highest partnership made for any wicket by a full members team in T20 International. Talking about the partnership with Tilak Verma, Sanju said,

I have had many partnerships with him, he is a very young player and he is the future of Indian cricket and it is great to partner with him. I don’t like to talk too much, the last time I talked too much I was out for zero twice, I want to keep it simple and focus on what I can do. (That’s) what our captain (Suryakumar Yadav) was expecting from us, and we are happy that we accomplished it.
