West Indies’ best spinner Gudakesh Moti has won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month (May) title. He achieved this feat by defeating Pakistan’s experienced fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ireland’s Lorcan Tucker.

Let us tell you, Gudakesh Moti is the second player from West Indies to win the ICC Player of the Month award this year. Earlier in January, Shamar Joseph had won this award. In the three-match T20 series played against South Africa, Gudakesh Moti took eight wickets at an impressive average of 8.50. Due to his bowling, South Africa had to face a 3-0 defeat against West Indies.

Gudakesh Moti is very happy after winning the ICC Player of the Month award

Gudakesh Moti said, ‘It is a matter of great honour for me and I am very happy to have won this award. I have worked very hard this season and I am getting a reward for it. I bowled very well in the first match against South Africa and took three wickets for 25 runs. The third wicket was my favourite wicket that night.’

Gudakesh Moti further said, ‘Playing in the World Cup is a big deal for me and playing in front of fans in my own country is really a special thing. I know the pitch here very well. We have started this tournament very well. It feels even better to see that we have won all three matches so far and I feel that we are lifting the cup on 29 June.’
