Kamran Akmal says that Virat Kohli should play only at number three.
Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has issued a warning to India about their batting line-up ahead of their clash against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. Kamran Kamal says Virat Kohli should not open with Rohit Sharma and should bat at his usual number 3 position.
Team India will face its arch-rival Pakistan on June 9. The entire cricket world is eagerly waiting for this match. Meanwhile, Akmal disagreed with Kohli opening in the top order and called India’s batting order wrong. He feels that if Kohli plays at number three, he can provide extra support to the team and finish the game, as he has done in the past. Akmal wanted Yashasvi Jaiswal to open with Rohit.
India is making a big mistake: Kamran Akmal
Kamran Akmal says that Virat Kohli should play at number three. He believes that Kohli has the ability to handle pressure as well as finish the match at this position.
Akmal said on his YouTube channel,
“I don’t think India’s batting order is right. Virat Kohli can handle pressure at number 3 and finish the match. This is very important for Team India. Yashasvi Jaiswal should start batting. Kohli should come at number 3. If India sticks to this batting order (Kohli), they can get stuck at some point. Kohli holds one end and finishes the match. I think India is making a mistake by making Kohli open.”
Can Virat Kohli make it a hat-trick of T20 WC fifties against Pakistan?
Kohli has scored half-centuries in the last two T20 World Cup matches against Pakistan. In the 2021 edition in the UAE, Kohli scored 57 runs off 49 balls, although India lost that match. His unbeaten 82 off 53 balls in the 2022 World Cup after that is considered one of the greatest T20 innings of all time. Kohli will want to score runs again in this important match on Sunday. Hopefully Kohli can hit a hat-trick of 50+ against Pakistan.
