Sanju Samson and Gautam Gambhir have shared the dressing room while playing for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Gambhir, who led KKR and was the team mentor during IPL 2024, had inspired the Kerala batsman to show the world what he is capable of, after being selected in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

However, Sanju did not get a chance to play in the playing eleven during the T20 World Cup. But now that Gambhir is the head coach of the Indian team, Sanju is continuously getting opportunities in Team India. True to Gambhir’s decision, Sanju played a century in the third T20 match against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.

On the other hand, now a big statement from former Indian opening batsman and well-known cricket commentator Akash Chopra has come out regarding the relationship between the two. Chopra has said that Gautam used to wait for Sanju to perform well before tweeting.

Gautam Gambhir had tweeted a few years ago that Sanju Samson is not only India’s best wicketkeeper-batsman but also the best young batsman in the country. Once I was interviewing him (Samson) and I told him that his only aim in life should be to inspire Gautam to tweet.

Chopra further said- Gautam used to wait for Sanju to perform well before tweeting. Gautam was a fan of Sanju, because of the way he batted, he may still be a fan of Sanju. First of all he hit five sixes in an over, he said that his guru had asked him to do so, it came to my mind why his guru did not talk about six sixes.
