Bangladesh last toured India in 2019 to play a Test series, where they lost both the matches by big margins.
The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh (IND vs BAN) is going to start from September 19. The first match of the series will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk. At the same time, the second match will be played at Green Park, Kanpur from September 27. Bangladesh recently defeated Pakistan 2-0 in their home Test series. On the other hand, Team India played the last Test series against England, in which the team won 4-1.
Bangladesh faced India for the first time in the longest format of the game in November 2000. However, it took 17 years for both the teams to play a Test match in India. IND vs BAN 1st Test: India win by an innings and 130 runs
In 2019, the first match of the Test series between India and Bangladesh was played at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Mominul Haque was captaining Bangladesh for the first time in Tests. He won the toss and decided to bat first. Bangladesh team, batting first, was all out for 150 runs in the first innings.
Mohammad Shami took 3 wickets for 27 runs in his spell. In reply, Team India declared the innings at 493-6. Mayank Agarwal scored 243 runs in 330 balls, registering his highest Test score. Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja scored half centuries.
Shami once again wreaked havoc in the second innings, he took 4 wickets for 31 runs in 16 overs. Ashwin also took 3 wickets, due to which Bangladesh’s innings was reduced to 213 runs. India then won by an innings and 130 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Mayank Agarwal was selected as the Player of the Match.
2nd Test: India won by an innings and 46 runs entered of
The second Test was played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. It was the first day-night Test match played by any team and also the first day-night Test match hosted in India. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first innings, Ishant Sharma (5 wickets), Umesh Yadav (4 wickets) and Mohammed Shami (2 wickets) performed brilliantly, due to which the visiting team was bowled out for 106 runs in 30.3 overs.
Team India declared the first innings at 347-9, with Virat Kohli scoring the highest 136 runs in 194 balls. This was Virat Kohli’s 20th century as Indian captain in Tests and 70th overall. He equaled Ricky Ponting’s record (41) for scoring the most centuries as a captain in international cricket. Let us tell you, this was also his last century as a captain.
Bangladesh team was able to score only 195 runs in the second innings. Mushfiqur Rahim played a half-century innings for the team. Whereas for India, Umesh Yadav took 5 wickets and Ishant Sharma took 4 wickets.
