He completed his record-breaking half-century by taking a single off England’s young spinner Shoaib Bashir. However, Shoaib Bashir clean bowled the Indian opener for 73 runs. Earlier, the star batsman of Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced 117 balls and hit eight fours and one six.
During this innings, this left-handed batsman equaled a special achievement of senior batsman Virat Kohli and current coach Rahul Dravid. Actually, Yashasvi Jaiswal has become the third batsman for India to score 600 runs against England in a Test series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also broke Virender Sehwag’s years old record
Earlier, former legendary batsman Rahul Dravid had become the first Indian player to cross the 600-run mark in England in 2002, and then Virat Kohli achieved this feat in the home series in 2016/17. Apart from this, Yashasvi Jaiswal has also broken the 16-year-old record of former Indian legend Virender Sehwag for hitting most sixes in a calendar year in Test cricket.
Jaiswal broke Virender Sehwag’s 16-year-old record by hitting Shoaib Bashir for a six over long-on. The most interesting thing is that Jaiswal has overtaken Sehwag in his fifth match in 2024, whereas the former opener took 14 matches and 27 innings to make this record. Now in 2024, Yashasvi Jaiswal has hit 23 sixes in Test cricket, whereas Virender Sehwag had made this record by hitting 22 sixes in the year 2008.
