The last match of the five-match Test series between India and England (IND vs ENG) is being played from today at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. Where the first day was in the name of Team India. The host team played brilliantly in both the batting and bowling departments. First the Indian spinners bowled out England for just 218 runs. After this, captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a century partnership and set an excellent platform for the upcoming batsmen. By the end of the day’s play, India had scored 135 runs losing 1 wicket and was 83 runs behind England’s score.
Dominance of Indian spinners on the first day
In the match, England won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the visiting team completely collapsed in front of the Indian spinners. The spin pair of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin destroyed the middle order along with the top order of the English team.
Where Kuldeep made 5 out of the top 6 batsmen his victims. Whereas Ashwin took 4 wickets of lower middle order. Apart from this, Ravindra Jadeja got one wicket. In this way, all the 10 wickets of England were in the name of Indian spinners.
England team scattered after lunch
Jack Crawley was the top scorer for England, who played an innings of 79 runs. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Jack Crowley and Ben Duckett gave a good start to England by making a partnership of 64 runs for the first wicket. Till lunch, the team was looking in a good position after losing 2 wickets at the score of 100, but after lunch the scenario completely changed.
The English team fell apart after a good start. The middle order batsmen failed to read the Indian spinners and as a result the team collapsed for just 218 runs. Apart from Crawley, Ben Duckett contributed 27 runs, Joe Root 26, Jonny Bairstow 29 and Ben Fox contributed 24 runs.
Yashasvi-Rohit scored half-centuries
In response to the English innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma once again gave a good start to India. Both the batsmen added 104 runs for the first wicket. During this, both the batsmen completed their respective half-centuries. But Yashasvi’s innings ended at 57 runs as Shoaib Bashir got him stumped in the 21st over.
However, after this India did not lose any more wickets till the end of the day’s play. Rohit Sharma is present at the crease after scoring 52* runs and Shubman Gill has scored 26* runs.
