The second test match between India and England has started in Visakhapatnam. On the second day of the second Test, Jasprit Bumrah bowled very well and took 6 wickets. He took the wickets of Joe Root, Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, James Anderson and Tom Hartley in England’s first innings.

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, experienced spinner Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets for the Indian team. Due to the tremendous bowling of these two, England was all out for 253 runs in their first innings. Earlier, India had scored 396 runs in its first innings after losing all the wickets. For England, brilliant opener Zak Crawley played an innings of 76 runs in 78 balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes.

Talking about the wicket of Joe Root, Jasprit Bumrah set-up the English batsman very well and then got him out on the inswing ball. Joe Root was trying to defend the ball but the ball hit his bat and went to Shubman Gill standing at first slip where he took a very good catch. Former England captain Alastair Cook has given his side regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s spell against Joe Root.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Alastair Cook said, ‘Some of the balls that Jasprit Bumrah bowled against Joe Root were very high quality reverse swing bowling. There was a very good partnership between Mukesh and Bumrah. Bumrah cleverly did not bowl reverse swing in the first over but Mukesh was doing it in his place. However, after this Rohit Sharma again bowled to Jasprit Bumrah and he performed amazingly.

Cook further said, ‘Joe Root was LBW in Hyderabad. The English batsman batted very well with a straight bat but all the time he was looking to play the same shot. Jasprit Bumrah did this well and bowled a little more outside.

The Indian bowler dodged Joe Root very well and took his wicket. I have been very impressed with the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah and hope that the English batsman will have to be careful with him in the coming matches also.
