On the second day of the third Test, Ashwin created history by becoming the second Indian cricketer after Anil Kumble to take 500 wickets in Test cricket. He was congratulated for this achievement by many cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Nathan Lyon and Yusuf Pathan. Yusuf Pathan also shared a post for Ashwin, in which he expressed hope that everything is well with his family.

After bowling out the host team for 445 runs, England made a fast start in batting. Opener Ben Duckett looked in great form and scored a strong century in Rajkot. Ollie Pope supported him well in the middle and at the end of the second day the visiting team’s score was 207/2. Barring Rohit Sharma, India’s top order looked ordinary with the bat, but England took advantage of the new ball, which gave them a good start.
