Former Team India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that, when Rohit Sharma said that only those people will be given a chance in Test cricket who have the hunger for Test cricket, then he was not pointing towards any one player. India defeated England by five wickets in the fourth Test in Ranchi on Monday to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
In the post-match press conference, Rohit talked about the hunger required to achieve success and perform well in the longest format. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra reflected on some of the post-match comments from both the captains. He has shared his opinion referring to Rohit’s statement.
Akash Chopra’s statement on Rohit Sharma’s ‘hungry’ statement
Aakash Chopra said, “Rohit Sharma has said that this is the toughest format and if you have to be successful in it, you need a lot of discipline and dedication. He also said that if someone does not have that hunger then it is obvious, but he was not pointing at anyone.”
The former opening batsman further said, “If you listen to him till the end, he also said that there is no one inside or outside the team or squad who is saying that they do not want to play. So he was not targeting anyone.”
Aakash Chopra said that what Rohit said was 110 percent correct. However, he said that Indian cricket is in a very good shape as they have some senior and junior players. In the absence of senior players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Team India managed to win the Test series against England.
