In the first innings, India got its first blow on the score of just 9 runs in the seventh over. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was clean bowled by Tim Southee. Rohit Sharma tried to drive, the ball beat the inside edge and went straight to the stumps. Rohit Sharma could score only two runs in 16 balls.

Virat Kohli came to bat at number 3 today because Shubman Gill is not completely fit. Because of this he was dropped from the playing 11. In the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand, Rishabh Pant scored the highest innings of 20 runs in 49 balls with the help of two fours. Rishabh became the victim of Matt Henry in the 26th over, Pant tried to defend but got an outside edge and Tom Latham made no mistake at second slip.

Kuldeep Yadav gave India its first success

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav made New Zealand captain Tom Latham his victim in the second over of his spell. He troubled Latham a lot in the first over also. It was a googly ball, Latham could not read it properly and played outside the line while trying to defend.

Kuldeep made a strong appeal for LBW, the onfield umpire showed no interest and then Rohit took a review after talking to the bowler and the wicketkeeper. Devon Conway out on 91 runs against Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin gave India its third success by dismissing Devon Conway in the 40th over. Conway was batting brilliantly and was moving towards a century. Devon Conway played a reverse sweep shot but the ball hit the stumps. Conway played an inning of 91 runs in 105 balls with the help of 11 fours and three sixes. Let us tell you, Conway had completed his 10th half-century in Test cricket by hitting a six on the last ball of the 17th over against Ashwin.
