Akash Deep gave a big success to Team India by dismissing Kiwi opener Devon Conway in the first session of the first day of the game itself. The first ball of the fourth over of the innings was played by Tom Latham towards mid-off and took three runs. Akash then dismissed Devon Conway LBW on the next ball. Akash appealed strongly and the onfield umpire declared him out. Conway talked to captain Tom Latham posted at the other end and decided to take a review. UltraEdge showed that the bat was not hit and on ball-tracking, all three dots were red and India got the first success. In the first innings of the third Test, Conway could score only 4 runs in 11 balls.

Sundar tightened the noose on Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra
Washington Sundar first bowled Tom Latham on the last ball of the 16th over. The ball beat the outside edge and hit the stumps straight away. The Kiwi captain played an innings of 28 runs in 44 balls with the help of 3 fours. Sundar then gave the third big blow to the opposition team by dismissing Rachin Ravindra in the 20th over on the score of 72. Rachin Ravindra tried to defend but the ball went beyond the outside edge and hit the stumps. Rachin Ravindra could score only 5 runs in 12 balls.

IND vs NZ: Jadeja breaks the partnership between Will Young and Daryl Mitchell
Ravindra Jadeja gave a big blow to New Zealand by dismissing Will Young in the 45th over. Will Young tried to play a defensive shot, hit the outside edge and Rohit Sharma, posted at first slip, took a good catch. Jaddu also broke the 87-run partnership between Will Young and Daryl Mitchell. Will Young scored 71 runs in 138 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. Ravindra Jadeja sent Tom Blundell to the pavilion for a duck in the same over and New Zealand lost the fifth wicket at the score of 159.

Daryl Mitchell played an inning of 82 runs
Daryl Mitchell played brilliantly for New Zealand in the first innings of the third Test. He played an inning of 82 runs in 129 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. He was caught by Rohit Sharma on the ball of Washington Sundar in the 66th over. In the first innings, Washington Sundar took 4 wickets for 81 runs in 18.4 overs. Apart from this, Akash Deep took one wicket for 22 runs in 5 overs. Whereas, Mohammad Siraj gave 16 runs in 6 overs and Ashwin gave 47 runs in 14 overs.
IND vs NZ: Rohit Sharma out against Matt Henry
