KL Rahul will join the Lucknow team on March 20. Let us tell you, Lucknow Super Giants have to play their first match of the Indian Premier League 2024 against Rajasthan Royals on March 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
According to the Economic Times, a BCCI source revealed, ‘KL Rahul has been approved by the National Cricket Academy and the brilliant player will join the Lucknow team on March 20. However, he has been told that he may face some problems in wicketkeeping for some time. In the first few matches, KL Rahul will be seen playing only as a batsman.
Lucknow Super Giants are not going to face any problem because the team already has two excellent wicketkeeper batsmen. In place of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock or Nicholas Pooran can be seen keeping wickets for the team in the upcoming season. Nicholas Pooran has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Lucknow franchise for the upcoming season.
Indian Board of Control for Cricket source made a big revelation
The source of the Board of Control for Cricket in India further said, ‘KL Rahul will not be included in the top 3 in the Indian T20 team because his performance earlier in the order has not been good. KL Rahul can play as wicketkeeper batsman at number 5 or number 6 if he has a good IPL. However, if Rahul plays only as a batsman, then you also have the option of Rinku Singh and Rishabh Pant who can be seen performing tremendously in the upcoming season.
The first match of the Indian Premier League 2024 will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The performance of Lucknow Super Giants was not so good last season.
