IPL 2025 Mega Auction is taking place on November 24 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A lot of money was showered on the players of the first two sets of auction. There was no one among the 12 marquee players who remained unsold. The franchises spent the entire Rs 180.50 crore on marquee players. IPL 2025 Auction: Rishabh Pant becomes the most expensive player in IPL history
Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history, he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. Franchises like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore also bid for Rishabh, but in the end Lucknow won. Rishabh Pant was earlier a part of Delhi Capitals, the franchise did not retain him. When Lucknow bid Rs 20.75 crore, Delhi used the RTM card. But then when Lucknow bid Rs 27 crore, Delhi decided not to use RTM.
Shreyas Iyer sold for Rs 26.75 crore
There was a fierce competition between Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings to buy Shreyas Iyer in the auction. Finally, Punjab Kings included Shreyas in their team by making a huge bid of Rs 26.75 crores. Shreyas has become the second most expensive player in IPL history. Let us tell you, he is the first captain in IPL history who has taken two different franchises to the finals. He took Delhi Capitals to the finals in 2020 and then in 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders became champions under his leadership.
IPL 2025 Auction: Arshdeep Singh and Chahal sold for Rs 18 crore each
Indian young bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal will be seen playing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. Punjab has included Arshdeep back in the team using the RTM card. At the same time, the franchise bought Chahal for Rs 18 crore. Both the players have become the most expensive Indian fast bowlers and spinners sold in the auction. Whereas, Mohammed Siraj was bought by Gujarat Titans for 12.25 crores and Mohammed Shami was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 10.30 crores.
KL Rahul becomes part of Delhi
Delhi Capitals has included KL Rahul in its team for Rs 14 crore. Rahul can be seen captaining Delhi in the upcoming season. KL Rahul’s performance in IPL 2024 was very good. Playing for Lucknow Super Giants, he scored 520 runs in 14 matches at an average of 37.14. However, despite this, Lucknow released him.
