KKR vs RCB Turning Point of Match: The 36th match of IPL 2024 was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Garden. RCB won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first. Batting first, KKR scored 222 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs on the basis of Philip Salt’s 48 runs and Shreyas Iyer’s 50 runs. In response, RCB team scored 221 runs in 20 overs and lost by just 1 run.

KKR vs RCB Turning Point of Match: What was the turning point of the match?

While chasing the target, RCB’s opening pair was not able to score big runs on the scoreboard. At the score of 35, the team suffered two major setbacks in the form of Kohli and Du Plessis. But then Will Jacques and Rajat Patidar made a big partnership of 102 runs which brought the match towards victory.

This match was gradually slipping from KKR’s side and RCB’s grip on this match was getting stronger. Then Andre Russell made a comeback in the match by dismissing Will Jacques and Rajat Patidar in the 12th over. After that, Sunil Narayan turned the match around by dismissing Cameron Green and Mahipal Lomror in the very next over and KKR dominated the match.

Dinesh Karthik’s slow innings laid the foundation of defeat

Dinesh Karthik then came to the crease to support Suyyash Prabhudeshai and as long as he was present at the crease, RCB’s hopes were alive in the match. But he showed too much confidence in himself but ultimately failed. Karthik was out after playing a very slow innings of 25 runs in 18 balls. His wicket fell on the last ball of the 19th over when RCB needed 23 runs from 6 balls to win.

Karan Sharma tried his best but failed in the pursuit of more runs.

Everyone thought that Kolkata had won the match but left-handed batsman Karn Sharma tried his best to snatch the match from the hands of KKR by hitting 3 sixes in 4 balls. At one time it seemed that he would easily score 3 runs in 2 balls, then he was caught out by Starc on the fifth ball. If Karn Sharma had more balls left or Dinesh Karthik had scored a few more runs, perhaps RCB would have won the match in just 3 sixes. But, then RCB’s hope of winning was on the last batsmen present at the crease who tried to draw the match but lost the match by 1 run.
