Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will retire from the ODI format after the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan next year. Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Executive (CEO) Naseeb Khan told Cricbuzz that the 39-year-old, who retired from Test cricket in 2019, will also retire from the 50-over format after the ICC tournament.
Mohammad Nabi made his ODI debut in 2009 against Scotland. He impressed everyone by scoring a half-century in his very first match. He has played 165 ODIs so far in which he has scored 3549 runs at an average of 27.30 and also taken 171 wickets. He is currently playing the ODI series against Bangladesh in UAE.

Naseeb Khan also said that Nabi can continue playing T20 after his retirement from ODI cricket. “Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he has informed the board about his wish,” Naseeb told Cricbuzz.
He told me a few months ago that he wanted to end his ODI career after the Champions Trophy and we welcome his decision. After the Champions Trophy, I think, he is expected to continue his T20 career and that is the plan as of now.”
Mohammad Nabi played a brilliant inning of 82 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh going on in UAE. Due to his innings, Afghanistan was successful in reaching the score of 235 in that match. Defending it, Allah Ghazanfar led his team to victory by taking 6 wickets. The second and third ODIs of the series will take place on November 9 and 11 respectively.
