MS Dhoni played as a player in IPL 2024.
IPL 2025: For IPL 2025, all the franchises have to submit the list of their retained players to BCCI before October 31. Meanwhile, a big relief news has come out for Chennai Super Kings regarding retention. Actually, CSK franchise did not know whether Dhoni would play in the next season or not, but now Dhoni has told his decision regarding this to the franchise.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Vishwanathan himself has told Cricbuzz that, MS Dhoni will play in IPL 2025. This top official of the five-time champion team said that he is very happy with this and he does not need anything else. Kasi Vishwanathan said that when he (Dhoni) is ready, what else do we need? We are happy.
Now CSK is all set to retain MS Dhoni as an uncapped player. Apart from this, if some reports are to be believed then Ravindra Jadeja will be the top retention of this franchise followed by Rituraj Gaikwad and then Mathisha Pathirana. That means Jadeja will be at number one while Rituraj will be at second and Pathirana will be at number three among the players to be retained.
MS Dhoni will meet N Srinivasan soon
The report also claims that MS Dhoni will meet franchise owner N Srinivasan to finalize the retention for the team. It is also reported that this wicketkeeper-batsman will be kept in the uncapped category for Rs 4 crore. Recently BCCI has re-implemented this rule, under which players who have not played international cricket for 5 years can be retained in the team as uncapped players.
It is now completely clear that Ravindra Jadeja will be the first retention of Chennai, followed by Rituraj Gaikwad. Mathesa Pathirana No. 3 has agreed to retention. Apart from them, Shivam Dubey, Devon Conway and uncapped player Sameer Rizvi can also be retained.
