While making the prediction, he named batsman Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant.

Dinesh Karthik was asked on Cricbuzz who can become the captain of the Indian team in the future, in response to this question he said, “As the next future captain of all formats of India, two players come straight to my mind who are young, have potential and can definitely lead India in all formats in the near future, one is Rishabh Pant and the other is Shubman Gill, both are captains of IPL teams and have also captained India. I think with time they have a chance to become captains of all formats for India.”
In the same video, Karthik also told who is the better Test batsman between Virat Kohli and Joe Root? He said, “Look, the stats will tell you that it is Joe Root, but my heart is with Virat Kohli. In fact, he is someone whom I have seen play for more than a decade and I know how much he loves to play in those big moments, big series.
When someone asks him questions, he will come back to you with such strong answers that you will say wow, if I was given a choice as to whose batting I would like to watch in my life, there is no doubt that I would name Virat Kohli.”
