On 2 November 2013, the series decider match was played between Team India and Australia in Bengaluru. Before that match, the series was tied at 2-2 between both the teams. Rohit Sharma played brilliantly for India and scored 209 runs in 158 balls with the help of 12 fours and 16 sixes.

Not only was this Rohit’s first double century in ODIs, but it also remains the highest individual ODI score by any batsman against Australia. At that time, Rohit became the third player in the world after Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to score a double century in ODI cricket.

With the help of that brilliant innings of Rohit, Team India had scored 383 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. In response, the Australian team lost the match by 57 runs while chasing the target and India won the series 3-2.

Hitman is the only batsman to score three double centuries in ODIs.

Rohit Sharma remains the only batsman in the world to score three double centuries in the ODI format. After scoring a double century against Australia, he scored 264 runs in 173 balls against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which is the highest individual score in ODIs. Hitman also scored his third double century against Sri Lanka in Mohali. He played an unbeaten inning of 208 runs.
