T20 World Cup is starting from 2 June 2024
Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the much-awaited T20 World Cup 2024. Let us tell you that the upcoming tournament is starting from June 2 under the joint hosting of West Indies and USA. The first match will be played between USA and Canada at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.
Also, let us tell you that there is a lack of basic cricket facilities in USA. So to fulfill this shortage, artificial pitches for playing cricket are being sent from Adelaide, Australia to USA. It is noteworthy that this time a total of 55 matches will be played in the T20 World Cup, out of which 16 matches will be played in USA and 39 matches will be played in West Indies.
However, in comparison to West Indies, artificial pitches have been sourced from Australia at the three venues where T20 World Cup matches are to be held in USA. Apart from Texas in USA, cricket fans are going to see some matches in New York and Florida.
On the other hand, cricket pitches are being sent by ship to USA, about 14 thousand miles away from Australia. Regarding sending these pitches to the USA, Damian Hough, pitch curator of Australia’s Adelaide Oval Cricket Stadium, said on BBC’s Stumped podcast this week – Our aim is to prepare pitches which have pace and bounce, on which players can play their shots. We want entertaining cricket, but also make it challenging.
