Cheteshwar Pujara has become the fourth batsman in the world to score most double centuries in first-class.
The teams of Chhattisgarh and Saurashtra are face to face in the second round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Chhattisgarh won the toss and elected to bat first and declared the first innings at 578/7. Saurashtra team also seems to be batting brilliantly at this time. Cheteshwar Pujara has scored a double century while maintaining his excellent form in red-ball cricket. This is his 18th double century in first-class cricket.
Cheteshwar Pujara scored a double century against Chhattisgarh
Saurashtra got a bad start while batting in the first innings against Chhattisgarh. The team lost the wicket of Harvik Desai (5) in the sixth over. After this, a partnership of 68 runs was made between Cheteshwar Pujara and Chirag Jani (40) for the second wicket. Pujara then made a 100+ partnership with Sheldon Jackson (62) and Arpit Vasavada (73), playing his 100th first-class match.
Today, on the fourth day of play, Cheteshwar Pujara completed his 66th century in first-class cricket. He then scored runs rapidly and completed his 18th double century. Pujara is currently out of Team India, but he is continuously scoring runs in red-ball cricket. After a stellar performance in county cricket in England, he is showing amazing form in the Ranji Trophy as well.

Cheteshwar Pujara has become the fourth batsman in the world to score most double centuries in first-class. He has left behind Herbert Sutcliffe and Mark Ramprakash. Both these greats have scored 17-17 double centuries. At the same time, Pujara is already on the top in the list of Indian batsmen. Vijay Merchant is second in the list, with 11 double centuries to his name. Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid have 10 centuries each.
