The Indian team is currently trailing 2-0 in the three-match Test series against New Zealand. India had to face defeat in the home Test series after 12 years. After the loss of this Test series, Rohit Sharma’s captaincy is continuously being criticized. In such a situation, Shikhar Dhawan has come forward in support of Rohit and shown sympathy.

Rohit Sharma’s friend and former opening partner Shikhar Dhawan does not consider New Zealand’s defeat as a matter of concern. Dhawan believes that it is unfair to question Rohit after losing just one series. He told India Today, “We do not feel the pressure you are talking about. Although there is pressure in the game, we are not affected by victory or defeat. It’s part of the game.”

Shikhar Dhawan gave a big statement in defense of Rohit Sharma

Shikhar Dhawan defended Rohit, saying, “I think this is neither a fair nor a practical approach to anything.” India had to face defeat against New Zealand by 8 wickets in Bengaluru and by 113 runs in Pune. With this, India’s streak of winning 18 consecutive Test series at home was broken.

Dhawan, who retired from international and domestic cricket in August, said, “As a cricketer, we do not think like this. Rohit is a great captain. It is not just a matter of victory or defeat. The team has a bond with its captain and the team members respect him a lot.” The last Test of the India vs New Zealand series will be held in Mumbai from 1 to 5 November. India has to play five test matches on Australia tour from 22nd November.

There is a high possibility that captain Rohit may miss the first one or two Test matches of the Australia series due to personal reasons. However, BCCI did not say anything officially in this regard while announcing the squad. At the same time, while giving a statement about India’s prospects in the upcoming Australia tour, Dhawan has expressed more expectations from Team India.
