After Team India’s resounding victory in the Dharamshala Test, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has given a big reward to the players playing red ball cricket. In fact, after the end of the Dharamshal Test match, Jay Shah announced an ‘incentive scheme’ for the players playing Test cricket. Under this scheme, players will also get money in addition to the match fees.
It is noteworthy that players who play more than 75 percent of test matches in a season for India are going to get an additional fee of Rs 45 lakh per test match. Apart from this, BCCI has decided to spend more Rs 40 crore per season for this scheme.
Captain Rohit Sharma has liked the priority given by BCCI and Jay Shah to Test cricket. Actually Jai Shah had written in his X post that, “I am delighted to announce the launch of the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ for India Men’s Test team players, which aims to provide financial growth and stability to our esteemed athletes. “Starting from the 2022-23 season, the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ will serve as an additional reward structure on top of the existing match fee of Rs 15 lakh for Test matches.”
Rohit Sharma liked this decision of Jai Shah very much and he Resharing BCCI’s post on its official It is also interesting to know that the players who are not in the playing eleven of the Test match and are included in the team, will get Rs 22.5 lakh as additional match fee per match.

Speaking about the scheme, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah highlighted how it has been designed to motivate players to play the longest format and is aimed at keeping the longest format alive.
“This scheme is designed to motivate our cricketers to contribute their best in the longer format of the game,” Jay Shah was quoted as saying by India Today. “This is a recognition of the unique challenges and demands of Test cricket, and through this initiative, we aim to not only reward the best players but also generate renewed passion for the purest format of the game.”
