Bangladesh cricket team’s chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hussain has confirmed on August 12 that veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is fully available for all the team’s Test matches to be held in 2024. Let us tell you, Bangladesh has to play 8 more Test matches this year. They have to play a two-match Test series against Pakistan and then the team will also be seen playing Test series against India, South Africa and West Indies.

Shakib Al Hasan had said some time ago that he would hardly play the Test series against India. His plan was only for the two-match Test series against Pakistan. However, Ashraf has now made a big revelation about Shakib Al Hasan’s availability.

Gazi Ashraf Hussain told the reporter at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today i.e. on 12th August, ‘At the end of July, we talked to Shakib Al Hasan about his fitness. We wanted to talk to him about his plan during the series against Zimbabwe. Our schedule is very busy till December as the team has to play 8 Test matches. Shakib Al Hasan has made it clear that he will play all the Test matches and will also participate in all the practice sessions before the series. The experienced all-rounder will join the team on 14th or 15th August.’

Bangladesh’s chief selector further said, ‘We have not yet received any update from the medical team regarding his eyes. Shakib Al Hasan is a very experienced player and he has been one of our best all-rounders for a long time. The way he has played matches and his record against Pakistan has also been very good and that is why we have included him in the team for the upcoming Test series.

The most important thing for the team was whether Shakib Al Hasan would be available for the practice sessions before the series or not. However, he himself has confirmed that he will be fully available for the Test series. He has been selected because of his talent. Every player and official is being given strict security during the practice sessions. We would like that Shakib Al Hasan is seen performing well in the coming times as well.
